Janardanan was only 6 1/2 months old when he was brought to us with Patent Ductus Arteriosus. The first photograph was taken soon after his surgery and second photograph was taken after 6 months of surgery. Please see the difference.

Amitabh's most memorable day in Chennai in the year 2008:

Mr. Amitabh Bachchan displayed his Samrakshak status by stating that he remembered Chennai most for "Donating 11 lakh for a scheme by KJ Hospital aimed at performing free cardiac surgeries for children from economically challenged backgrounds."

He also mentioned that "Chennai has some of the best doctors and medical facilities in the world".

The hospital, Periyar Maniammai Hospital is at present giving shelter for these children after ten days of stay in K J Hospital. This helps us to monitor these children before they are finally discharged to far off villages.

Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, affably called 'Big B', today played the role of a good samaritan by announcing an aid of Rs 11 lakh to the 'Needy Little Hearts' (NLH) scheme and interacting with 35 under-privileged children at K J Hospital.

Mr Bachchan remembered and acknowledged the contribution of K J  Hospital to his health matters.

We have created a corpus fund which is a non-profitable fund within the KJ Hospital Research Foundation. The fund is called “Less Affluent Kids’ Cardiac Fund”.It will have contributions from the corporates, philanthropists and patients' families. A proposal for contribution by the Government of Tamil Nadu has been submitted and is being considered.

Government of TamilNadu has taken us in a Public – Private partnership program which has expanded into an Insurance program for the poor. Rs 75,000/-($1500), 1, 00,000/-($2000/-)  for Simple and Complex Open Heart Surgeries respectively are contributed for each surgery.
